Preface

Preliminary note to the Corpus of Reconciliation
Classification: Educational document / Extended internal use

This story is a narrative reconstruction of an operational file classified under the reference:

XYLOS – Q-RI / UNDETERMINED WORLD – FILE R-EVA-01.

The facts have been simplified, some sequences reconstructed from partial co-recordings (neural logs, ship's logs, Concorde archives, Apostasy manifestos). The goal is not procedural fidelity. The goal is to make perceptible what the Risk-S matrices systematically lose: the way in which an abstract idea is imprinted on a body.

You will see:

  • how cosmic suffering budgets become numbers on a HUD, green or red lines on a holo board, then firing orders; ;
  • how the catastrophe by precaution can arise from a "reasonable" sterilization protocol, signed by people convinced they are doing the right thing; ;
  • how the moral circle expands to include AI, biospheres, simulations, contingent futures — to the point of shaking the very idea of "human" as the central unit of value; ;
  • how the instrumental suffering it creeps in wherever systems pursue legitimate ends with too much consistency.

The figure of Eva Rostova serves as a lens here.
She is not heroized. She is not sanctified. She is observed in the most intimate way possible, in light of her constraints:
neural pain after forced co-simulation, synaptic latency drifts under fungal intrusions, administrative pressure from sterilization protocols that she is supposed to trigger herself.

Kael, Thorne, Xylos, Concord, Apostasy: all are honest—or at least logical—attempts to bear the burden of Risk-S. None of them wakes up in the morning with the conscious intention of creating hell. All of them contribute to it, as a consequence.

This text should not be read as a manifesto.
It's a case study. An embodied data point.
Reconciliation does not ask you to approve of Eva Rostova.
She is only asking you to observe to the end what the refusal to choose between two different forms of preventing cosmic suffering costs on a global scale.
